Pitt's medical school to help Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan develop its own

The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine has entered into a strategic partnership to help Nazarbayev University in the Republic of Kazakhstan establish a medical school in its capital city of Astana.

Pitt advisers will help officials there to design and develop a medical school curriculum as well as offer guidance for recruiting and training faculty and administrators.

The school is expected to open in the fall of 2015.

Pitt has been providing biomedical expertise to Kazakhstan since June 2011, helping in the training of research staff at the university.
