LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man accused of stealing dozens of bicycles and selling them to full a drug habit was taken into custody after he was found masturbating in a college restroom.
According to Louisville Metro police, Michael Smith, 39, stole approximately $10,000 worth of bikes, each in under one minute, by cutting cable locks.
Police reports state on July 2 Smith stole a bicycle from the YMCA located on 2nd Street, another on July 7 in the 400 block of West Market Street and a third on July 15 in the 300 block of West Chestnut Street.
A Jefferson Community and Technical College security officer found Smith naked and masturbating in a 2nd floor bathroom on the schools campus at around 1 p.m. Thursday. The security officer told police Smith had come to the campus several times and often left behind drug paraphernalia.
Smith is charged with criminal trespassing, giving an officer a false name, theft by unlawful taking
