How to Prepare a Schedule For a Baby Shower

The hard part is over, now that you have your party all planned out. You chose a theme, sent out invitations, prepared a menu, bought all those cute baby decorations and planned a few fun games. So how do you make sure all your hard work pays off? Here are some tips to prepare a schedule to help your baby shower be a success!

Baby showers typically last 2 ? 3 hours. By having a clear plan of how your party should flow you will be on your way to an entertaining and memorable day. The most important part of a successful event is organization. Organizing a schedule of activities will keep your party flowing smoothly.

Your schedule will depend on the type of party and where you are having the event. If you are having it at a restaurant your schedule will be quite different then having it at someones home. As well as if you are having a buffet or sit down meal will also effect your schedule.

If you are planning on having the event at a restaurant you should plan on it lasting about 2 hours. Give guests a 15 minute window to show up from the starting time of the party. Make sure to include directions to the restaurant when sending out the invitations. While the guests are arriving have their drink orders taken and once all the guests have arrived have them place their orders.

You most likely won?t be planning any games for a restaurant event but you could still have the guests participate in other types of shower activities. Mommy advice cards or notes is a great activity that can easily be done at a restaurant. Scratch & win games are another great public activity. These can be done while you are waiting for your food.

Once everyone has finished eating you would plan to open gifts. Coffee and cake could also be served at this time. You should finish the party by thanking everyone for attending.

If you are planning the shower at someone?s home you will need to do a bit more scheduling. The first 30 minutes of the party you will spend greeting guests and making sure everyone is acquainted, directing them to refreshments, and where to put there belongings and any gifts they brought.

If you are having a buffet style meal then you should make sure everything is prepared when the guests start arriving and direct them to the food. If you are having a sit down meal you should plan to begin to serve it about 30 minutes from the start of the shower. Expect the meal to last about 30 ? 45 minutes.

Once everyone has eaten you can schedule a couple of games and shower activities. Depending on what type of activities you choose, they should last about 30 minutes.

At this point in the party you can choose to serve dessert and coffee. You can either plan to open the gifts during dessert or after everyone is done. Make sure to have a notepad and pen handy to write down what gifts people brought. Depending on how many gifts the expectant parents receive this could take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

Once all the gifts have been opened you should hand out baby shower favors to your party guests. Make sure to thank everyone for attending the shower.

As you can see, it takes a lot more to schedule a baby shower at home than in a restaurant. No matter where you plan to have your party, make it a point to prepare a schedule for a memorable, hassle-free event!
